THE MAKING OF

Piazza Kennedy – Pontedera

“Live with fantasy”
“A grown man on a swing, surrounded by a childish landscape, reads the story of Don Quixote to some characters in his imagination. A praise to the fight against windmills, a struggle to live one's dreams and turn them into reality. Every writer knows that their graffiti is not forever. Time, other graffiti artists, other people, sooner or later will transform, but despite this, we still put our hearts into creating our work and, as in this case, we commit ourselves for days to give life to our vision, to our message , because even if he stayed alive for two days, it would still have been worth it. Thanks to everyone who came to this first inauguration of the CCC project yesterday. Our efforts paid off in full. Our message will remain on that wall, in the eyes of all, which was previously gray and meaningless….and now instead, tells a story.

Thanks to the councilor Marco Cecchi and to the Municipality of Pontedera, to the PonteVerde Cooperative, to Caparol Center, to the inhabitants of the neighborhood who helped and pampered us for 4 days and who organized a fabulous and exemplary neighborhood party, to Filippo Bernardeschi and to the Million Dollars Breakers, to the guys from Nameless Skateboard, to Joe Antani and Daniele Bruni (Team Sofa) and more generally to all those who supported and helped make yesterday's day successful.

An example of how Pontedera and its cultural Melting Pot manage to create moments of magical sharing and peaceful growth".

IL NONNO

In 2015, from the collaboration with the Municipality of Pontedera, CCC-CITY COLORS CORRECTION was born, an urban art project linked to the redevelopment of popular districts of the city. Color correction is the term used in photography and video production to define the work of editing and "correcting" imperfections related to exposure, light, color temperature of photos and scenes. By working on color correction, it is possible to radically transform the quality of a product, photographic or video, and improve its visual experience in a powerful way. Similarly, the CITY COLORS CORRECTION intervenes in degraded and socially sensitive urban contexts to bring about a new visual and emotional perception of the place through redevelopment interventions. In collaboration with the Ponteverde cooperative, and through the involvement of socially useful workers, numerous benches, gates and walls present in squares of peripheral districts have been recovered and colored.

Subsequently, some walls of social housing or some perimeter walls were identified in these squares, on which, after a work of preparation and sanitization of the wall, the works were carried out.

The interventions of the workers and those of the artists have together achieved the goal of giving a new light to anonymous corners of the city, making the quality and usability of the squares better.

A work therefore not only aesthetic but social. Art available to everyone, in the most marginal places of the city. Art and color chase away degradation and greyness. Lopez and his collaborators have also given, in each intervention of this type, the possibility of confronting the inhabitants of the neighborhood during the work, collecting their impressions and advice during the work. By becoming guests of the community for a while, living it from the inside, and each time coming out enriched by new sharing experiences. The work "in the street" pushes the artist to look for themes that have a link with the place, to contextualize the artistic message. The attention towards the public space, redeveloped through color, shown by the municipal administration that commissioned the work and by the artists who created it, is always perceived positively by citizens, and is a stimulus for them to take care of the places they live in every day.
